OUR STORY
Somehow we spent almost two decades living less than 30 minutes away from each other - frequenting the same movie theaters, knowing many of the same people, and even ending up in some of the same rooms - without ever meeting. As fate would have it, college turned out to be the exact right time.
We met during our sophomore year at SUNY New Paltz at one of the many house parties thrown by theater students. We hit it off immediately, seeming to find each other at every theater party after that. Our first date finally came on Halloween in 2019, with Stasik dressed as Waldo and spending a significant portion of the evening taking photos with strangers who drunkenly insisted they "finally found him."
After returning to his suite on campus, Stasik would tell his now groomsmen,
"this is going to be a problem.”
We quickly bonded over a shared love of storytelling, performance, and the inevitable question of what exactly we were going to do with our lives after graduation. Not long after we started dating, the COVID-19 pandemic turned the world upside down - and what could have been a difficult test for a young relationship instead brought us even closer. Through lockdowns, virtual classes, an unusual graduation, and all the uncertainty that came with that period, we became each other's biggest supporters, life-teammates, and favorite people to be stuck in a house with.
The years that followed brought adventures neither of us could have predicted - Washington, DC, graduate school, a cross-country move to Palm Springs, and eventually back east. Through every new city and milestone, we kept building something together that takes a clearer shape every day.
In May 2025, Stasik proposed to Lauren at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego - Lauren’s favorite spot on the West Coast. Now, after years of adventures that have taken us across the country and back again we’re ready to celebrate the next chapter, surrounded by all the people we love most.
